Charles Winokur is an independent, award-winning writer/director from Los Gatos, CA, now based in the Los Angeles area, focused on creating visually driven films that explore the depth and beauty of being human.

Drawing inspiration from classical cinema, noir, historical accounts, and surrealist storytelling, his work blends atmospheric imagery with emotionally grounded characters to create films that feel both intimate at their core and mythic in scale. ​

His recent work includes the short film Expedition Rex, a psychological period piece following a young paleontologist consumed by ambition during a dangerous solo expedition in 1902. Across his films, Charles creates cinema that feels timeless, haunting, and deeply human.
